On 18 and 19 October, Munich residents will, for the 19th time, have a chance to experience digital and analogue art from all over the world – acoustically, visually and, within the hustle and bustle, also tactile. And since all participating artists and staff are collaborating in the festival on a voluntary basis, the event is free of charge. Claudia and Stefan Holmeier had the vision for this audiovisual experience in 2002 and have expertly managed the event ever since. Mayor Dieter Reiter will again be the patron of this year’s festival.

For 17 years, the DigitalAnalog has been breaching the rigid boundaries between genres and scenes and has provided an interdisciplinary platform for audio and video, sub-, pop and club culture and experimental art. With a nod to the subtitle of the album of the same name by Austrian artist Curd Duca, the combination of the two elements digital and analogue has become the festival’s name and leitmotif. In the early stage of their career, young artists have presented themselves to the public, gained experience and experimented here, while old hands have found a place to be among old acquaintances.

In 2019, DigitalAnalog will once again be defined by a mixture of Munich’s professionalism, restrained egocentricity and the organisers’ declared goal of making new ideas accessible to and, above all, tangible for everyone, regardless of background. What visitors make of these impressions is entirely up to them.
